Michael Henry - Independent Chair of BEAM
BEAM is an exciting opportunity to influence the policy agenda as it affects BME communities as well as addressing policy issues that have an impact on BME communities.
BEAM is a non-sectarian, issue-based alliance focused on effective engagement and working in partnership with stakeholders to improve quality and modernise the BME Third Sector for sustainable development.
The unique feature of BEAM is that it has connections with the range of BME groups including faith and asylum seeker organisations at a local level and we can bring this experience to our regional work providing more informed perspectives on issues that affect frontline BME VCS organisations.
The founding members of BEAM are the existing sub regional infrastructure bodies I.e. Council for Ethnic Minority Communities – Northamptonshire (CEMC), Derby Millennium Network (DMN), Leicestershire Ethnic Minority Partnership (LEMP). Due to the lack of similar bodies in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire we are in touch with key individuals as an interim measure.
